[00:03:21] Question one. In the 2016 film Captain America Civil War, which character leads the faction of Avengers in support of the Hero Registration Act? Well, that would be Tony Stark also known as Iron Man. The leader of the other faction was Steve Rogers, aka Captain America. Well, here’s a fun fact. Remember that helicopter scene where Captain America holds back a helicopter? Some people have said that the biceps on actor Chris Evans had to be CGI enhanced because they were so big. Well, Chris [00:04:00] Evans said, no, they were his actual biceps. He said, right before that scene, he lifted a bunch of weights. He actually injured his arm while filming that scene. Remember how I mentioned code names? Well, this movie had one, the code name for the Captain America Civil War film was Sputnik.

[00:04:21] Question two. In the 2008 movie Iron Man, what is the name of Tony Stark’s AI system and for a bonus challenge, what is it an acronym for?

[00:04:34] Well, the AI system is named Jarvis and it’s an acronym for Just A Rather Very Intelligent System. Here’s some fun facts. Robert Downey Jr. does an amazing job playing Tony Stark but did you know that the role almost went to Tom Cruise? I can’t imagine anyone other than Robert Downey Jr in [00:05:00] this role.

[00:05:01] Both Howard Hughes and Elon Musk were inspiration for the Tony Stark character. Back in the comic book days, the inspiration was Howard Hughes and in the 2008 movie, it was Elon Musk. Musk even shows up as himself in Iron Man 2.

[00:05:19] Question three. In the 2008 movie, The Incredible Hulk, what is it that causes Bruce Banner to turn into The Incredible Hulk?

[00:05:30] Well, after being exposed to gamma radiation, Bruce Banner turns into the Hulk whenever he becomes enraged or agitated. Do you know who did the voice of Hulk in the movie? It was Lou Ferrigno, the actor that played the Hulk in the television series that debuted in the 1970s. In addition to his voice, he can be seen in the movie in a cameo appearance as a security guard.

[00:05:59] The [00:06:00] 2008 incredible Hulk movie was the lowest grossing Marvel Cinematic Universe film to date.

[00:06:06] Question four. Thanks to a wormhole, in what U.S. State does Thor find himself? That would be New Mexico. Did you know that both Chris and Liam Hemsworth tried out for the role of Thor? Chris ended up getting the role and his brother Liam went on to star in the Hunger Games movies.

[00:06:29] This wasn’t Chris Hemsworths first time with a hammer. For a few years he worked as a builder in Australia. Not quite the same kind of hammer though. The code name for the movie Thor was Manhattan.

[00:06:44] Question five. In Avengers End Game, what is the name of the super villain who used the infinity gauntlet to disintegrate half of all life in the universe?

[00:06:55] Well, that bad guy was Thanos. Actor Josh Brolin [00:07:00] provided the voice of Thanos for the film. Thanos is one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel universe. Here’s a fun fact, the Avengers End Game script was top secret. The only actor to get a full copy was Robert Downey Jr.

[00:07:18] The code name for the Avengers End Game movie was Mary Lou, as in Mary Lou Retton. The screenwriters said they really needed to stick the landing on this movie.

[00:07:30] One of the most memorable lines from the film is between Tony stark and his daughter, Morgan. They say, I love you 3000. That phrase was actually inspired by Robert Downey Jr’s own kids and what they say to him.

[00:07:45] Avengers End Game was one of the most expensive movies ever made. Luckily it really cleaned up at the box office. It holds the record for the highest grossing film of all time. And it holds the record for being the fastest film [00:08:00] to get to the $1 billion mark. Would you believe it did that in only five days? Talk about being a good return on your investment.

[00:08:11] Question six. In the  2014 movie Guardians of the Galaxy, what is the name of the raccoon character? Well, this is a little tricky.  Serious Marvel fans will know that his name is actually 89P13, but most of us will probably know him as Rocket, and he is voiced by actor Bradley Cooper.

[00:08:34] Here’s a fun fact. A real raccoon was actually on the set to give the director inspiration. That raccoon was named Oreo. He even got to attend the red carpet premier. Talk about a lucky raccoon.

[00:08:49] Vin Diesel, the actor who played Groot, he recorded his line “I am Groot” over 1000 times. When he attended the European premier of the film, [00:09:00] Vin Diesel showed up in a t-shirt that said “I am Groot” and he was even wearing stilts. The code name for the Guardians of the Galaxy film was Full Tilt.

[00:09:13] Question seven. In the 2015 movie Ant-man, what is the name of the character whose alter-ego is Ant-Man and is played by actor Paul Rudd? That would be Scott Lang.

[00:09:27] Actor Paul Rudd said his son was not impressed when told about his dad’s role as An-Man.  He told his dad, “I can’t wait to see how stupid that will be”. Supposidly he’s not the only dad to have his kids unimpressed with his superhero role. Chris Hemsworth’s kids visited him on the set of Thor, Ragnar rock and said Thor was boring.

[00:09:51] Did you ever wonder how the filmmakers got Michael Douglas to look so young and his flashback scenes?  Well, thanks to visual effects [00:10:00] anything is possible. During the filming of Ant-Man, Michael Douglas celebrated his 70th birthday. Don’t we all wish we had some visual effects to make us look better each day. The code name for the Ant-Man film was Big Foot.

[00:10:16] Question eight. In the 2018 movie Black Panther,  what is the name of the fictional metal mined only in Wakanda? The answer is vibranium.

[00:10:29] In 1966, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created the Black Panther character, the first black superhero of mainstream comics. It took until 2018 for the character to reach the big screen in his own movie. Did you know that the sign for Wakanda is the sign for hug in American sign language.  The code name for the Black Panther film was Motherland, as in Africa.

[00:11:00] [00:10:59] Chadwick Bozeman, the actor who played the Black Panther died in August of 2020 from complications related to colon cancer, a disease he was diagnosed with in 2016. His death shocked fans everywhere. When his family announced the news on his Twitter account, it became the most liked tweet of all time.

[00:11:24] Question nine. In the 2019 movie Captain Marvel, Brie Larson plays Captain Marvel. What is the name of her alter-ego? Her name is Carol Danvers sometimes called Vers.

[00:11:40] Here’s a fun fact. Actress, Brie Larson is allergic to cats. So in the movie, whenever there was a scene with the cat named Goose, they had to use visual effects or a puppet instead of the real thing. Captain Marvel is Marvel Studios first female led film.

[00:11:58] And question 10. [00:12:00] In the 2017 movie Spiderman Homecoming, what is the name of the actor that plays Peter Parker and his alter-ego Spiderman. That actor is Tom Holland.  Of all of the actors that have played Peter Parker in the movie Tom Holland was the youngest to be cast in the role. He was 19 years old. His character in the film is 15 years old.

[00:12:27] This was the first feature film for the actresses Zendaya known by many Disney Channel fans as Rocky Blue on the show Shake It Up.
